Clean-tech is on a Mission to Reinvent Air Filtration Technology

One of the very first modern applications of an air filtration system was in the 1940s during World War II, when the HEPA, High Efficiency Particulate Air, filter was created during the Manhattan Project. American scientists were searching for a way to cleanse the air of radioactive particles released into the air during the creation of the atom bomb. The certification process for HEPA filters wasn’t established until 1983, when the HEPA designation was then made to describe filters that are able to trap 99.97% of particulates in the air. At the very beginning HEPA filters were designed just for labs and factories. Fast forward to today when they are in things we use every day like air purifiers, cars, and even vacuum cleaners.

UV (ultraviolet) light was first discovered to kill certain bacteria's as far back as the late 1800s. While there was sporadic research on the topic, it wasn’t taken very seriously until a rise in Tuberculosis in the early 1990s. Since then we have discovered many things about UV light and even UV-C light, which is shortwave ultraviolet light. Today’s modern UV-C medical grade bulbs are used in hospital and sterile settings around the world. By placing a UV-C bulb inside an air purifier, it can ensure that a higher percentage of particulate in the air is killed within the unit. So all those little bacteria and other harmful airborne substances that make it through the HEPA filter gauntlet will be eradicated by UV-C light!

Clean-tech has forged the new path for air filtration technology with their brand new, heavily researched, and carefully designed UVC Air Purifier. This innovative design takes what works from other models and adds the important pieces to the air filtration puzzle. Harnessing the power of both the HEPA filter and UV-C light technology in one unit has certainly been done before, but never this well. With so much need for improvement, Clean-tech sought to be the first to use medical grade short-wave ultraviolet light that is much stronger than normal UV-C light. With a bigger bulb and more intensity, Clean-tech has brought the sanitation percentage to 99.99%, higher than any unit on the market has ever been able to do before.

How Traditional Air Purifiers Filter Air

Traditional air purifiers usually only utilize a HEPA filter inside the unit. While HEPA filters are a useful alternative to no air filtration at all, they can’t trap all sizes and types of particles from the air. Almost all modern HEPA filters are made of interlaced glass and paper fibers that are twisted into a fiber based maze that particles get lost or caught in. Large contaminants such as dust, dander, and pollen travel in straight paths.

They enter the filter and get stuck to the fibers fairly easily. Tiny particles tend to move quickly and erratically, making them susceptible to randomly hitting the fibers and getting stuck for good. Now this all sounds good, but once these particles are trapped, they are sitting in the unit until the filter is changed. The recommendation is usually about six months depending on usage. Not only that, but what about the hazardous air contaminants that make it through the HEPA filter?

Some manufacturers have begun adding UV-C bulbs inside their units to kill the rest of those particles that escape the clutches of the HEPA filter. As the air is forced through the air purifier, the UV-C bulb sanitizes the air by a process of germicidal irradiation. This final step is used to kill any other bacteria or virus that floats through the air. Doctors have recently warned about the potential eye damage that comes from UV light. After the outbreak of the coronavirus, many people had purchased UV-C bulbs in an attempt to sanitize their homes and businesses.

Unfortunately, when UV light comes in direct contact with our eyes it is like getting a sunburn on your cornea. Not sure about you, but this sounds pretty terrible! One of the greatest features of the Clean-tech UV-C Air Purifier is that the UV-C bulb is completely enclosed in the unit with zero light leak, making it safe to use 24/7.

Clean-tech Air Filtration is Lab Tested

When making the decision to purchase a new air filtration system, it can lead you down a rabbit hole of air purifier research that seems never ending. With so many options available, it can be difficult to properly assess what each unit offers and if the claims made by the manufacturer are accurate. All air purifiers will have a percentage listed of the amount of airborne particles the unit will destroy. Most air purifiers have now been updated to a modern combination of HEPA filter and UV-C light, but make sure to really read the list of features to make sure. Even at that, the quality of the components is very important to pay attention to. All of these questions and concerns can be easily answered with the certified lab tests to accompany the product.

Clean-tech took the innovation a step further by releasing the UV-C Air Purifier’s lab test results, which can be found here. These units have been rigorously tested to solidify the amazing claim of 99.99% of airborne particles destroyed. They have also been put to the test against the Influenza A Virus which are the only influenza viruses known to cause flu pandemics, i.e., global epidemics of flu disease, according to the CDC. In a controlled lab environment, the Clean-tech UV-C Air Purifier was shown to destroy greater than or equal to 99.99% of the airborne hazards.

These test results are very important when choosing which air filtration system is right for you. They ensure that manufacturers are living up to the claims they have made. So, if you are in your research rabbit hole and you think you have found the one, look for the tests! If they aren’t readily available, ask!

How Does Clean-tech’s Air Filtration Technology Work?

HEPA and UV-C light technology have been a trusted technology for air purification from hospitals to airports for decades. Recent UV-C break-throughs in manufacturing have made it possible for high quality UV-C bulbs to enter the consumer market. Clean-tech's 2-Stage air purification rethinks the fundamentals by focusing on maximum UV-C exposure time rather than just collecting pollution and maximizing air volume.

Step One

Full room air purification begins with a HEPA air filter removing larger particles and allergens to optimize the UV-C effectiveness. Large particles will block the UV-C light rays from deactivating microorganisms. This first stage is critical to cycling and purifying air at scale. This paper-based filter is designed with mini folds to increase the filter surface function as a pre-filter to trap larger particles from the air, while intentionally allowing smaller particles to move on to the UV-C stage. The HEPA filter is also replaceable and depending on usage, should be replaced every six to twelve months.

Step Two

Air flows into the purifying chamber coated with ReflectTech mirror coating the optimal 360 degree equidistant from the bulb for a amplified UV-C dosage at extremely high intensity. The mirror coating both reduces particles from adhering to the side of the chamber, but bounces and focuses the UV-C 254 nm wavelength into the chamber. All air flowing through the device is sterilized. UV-C is used on airplanes, bus terminals, and other public spaces. It sanitizes better than chemicals without damaging fabrics. The FDA confirms that UV-C light at 254 nm is a trusted technology that is effective at inactivating microorganisms.

It All Comes Together

After large particles are trapped in the HEPA filter, Clean-tech’s unique Reflect Tech mirror coating, when applied to stainless steel, increases the reflectiveness by 30%. This means that the UV-C light is magnified inside of the sterilizing chamber. The widened chamber slows down the air flow while exposing particles to maximum UV dosage. The coating also prevents particles from attaching to the sides of the chamber. The ultraviolet rays destroy the molecular structure of DNA or RNA in the cells of microorganisms.

Where to Use Your New Clean-tech Air Purifier for Optimized Air Filtration

We have been utilizing the technology of the HEPA filter effectively for decades now. Combined with the power of the UV-C bulb, air filtration technology has been brought into the future. Unfortunately, we humans don’t have HEPA filters built in and ultraviolet light cannot be used on the human body. Maybe that is the next round of evolution. While we wait a couple more billion years, Clean-tech created a technological alternative that can keep us all safe from potentially hazardous airborne particles. Clean-tech’s air purifier is also one of the first devices to provide medical grade UVC air purification when people are in the same room safely. There are many different places that could truly benefit from the use of an air filtration system.

Our Homes

We always want to feel safe in our homes. We want to feel protected in our personal sanctuaries and that is sometimes a difficult task, knowing that harmful pollution from the outside world has made it into our homes. These airborne toxins can wreak havoc on our health and wellbeing. Smoke, pollen, chemicals, and even exhaust fumes can slip through the cracks and get stuck inside. Using an air purifier ensures that the air you breathe inside your home is fresh and sanitized.

Rentals

If you have a property that you rent out either for long term tenants or short term renters, it is important to create a homey, welcoming environment for your guests, no matter how long they intend to stay. By providing an air purification system in each unit, it shows you care about them in a way that most landlords tend to overlook. This can be a very big selling point that can turn some guests into repeat visitors and encourages long term tenants to renew their contracts.

Offices

Going back to work has been a difficult transition for some people as the pandemic winds down. As offices open up, workers are having some anxiety about heading back into the tight quarters of an office setting. With proper sanitation protocols and an air purifier that can cleanse the air 24/7, it can help to ease the stress of returning to the office and make getting back to business a little easier for everyone.

Waiting Rooms

Waiting rooms in general are hard places to be. Most of the time you aren't sure how long you will be there and you may not be waiting for great news. With more offices opening up, the waiting rooms are ready to be filled again. Having an air purifier visible that can sanitize the air circulating in the room will help to ensure the patients or clients feel safe in the office.

Retail Storefronts

Retail storefronts are one of the biggest sufferers from the pandemic and are ready to get back to business. Opening up requires a lot of protocols to be covered before opening the doors to the public each day. An addition of an air purifier can give customers peace of mind while they shop allowing them to take their time in the store and even socialize without fear. By creating a safe environment, customers are more likely to return and even suggest your store to their friends and family.

Coffee Shops

Coffee keeps people going. It is one of the hottest commodities in the United States and elsewhere and it isn't going away anytime soon. As the tables in coffee shops open again and the lines get a little longer, adding an air purifier can help to protect employees and customers alike. Creating that welcoming environment that people want to stay in and come back to is what sets a business apart from the rest.

Gyms & Fitness Centers

Gyms and Fitness Centers are notoriously dirty places. Even with all the sanitation the staff does during the day, it is impossible to sanitize the air with just some aerosol cans. Rather than spray harsh chemicals into the air where clients are trying to exercise, considering an air purifier can truly put everyone at ease. Since the Clean-tech air purifier can run 24/7, it is ideal for centers that are open at all hours.

Clean-tech’s Completed Mission

Clean-tech was started with a mission to protect the people and spaces everyone loves, so we can all get back to life. By partnering with global pioneers in science, research, engineering, and manufacturing, they were able to bring this technology to life. The new, innovative design takes what works from traditional air filtration models and improves it tenfold. By combining the power of HEPA filters and the UV-C bulb technology, Clean-tech sought to manufacture the most impressive and highest quality air purifier on the market. Clean-tech has completed that mission by achieving a sanitation percentage 99.99%, higher than any unit on the market has ever been able to do before. With air filtration systems in such high demand right now, there is no reason not to add one to your home or business.
